Former Keene officer admits to false report in tracking-device case

The Attorney General’s Office also said Lamoureux later tried to enlist another person to provide a false account about the devices.

A New Hampshire State Trooper who once worked for the Keene Police Department has admitted he misled police about tracking devices placed on vehicles connected to his then-girlfriend.

James Lamoureux, 43, of Keene entered a guilty plea to making a false report to law enforcement, according to a Thursday news release from the N.H. Attorney General’s Office. Investigators said Lamoureux told Keene police that someone else had attached the devices, but authorities determined he had installed them himself on his own vehicle and on another vehicle being used by his then-girlfriend. The devices were connected to an app, the release said.

The Attorney General’s Office also said Lamoureux later tried to enlist another person to provide a false account about the devices.

Under the agreement resolving the misdemeanor charge, Lamoureux received a six-month jail sentence that was suspended for two years. He must leave the N.H. State Police, and he will lose his N.H. Law Enforcement Certification.

He will also be entered into the national registry of decertified officers and barred from returning to police work.

Lamoureux previously served with the Keene Police Department during the 2010s, including time as school resource officer at Keene High School, according to earlier reporting.
